Rosemary Watson's Obituary
Rosemary Alice Watson (Foote) entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully served throughout her life. She was born again by trusting in Jesus Christ, who took her punishment on the cross and forgave her sins.
From childhood, Rosemary faced many health challenges, beginning with a curvature of the spine. Despite these hardships, her heart’s desire was to become a missionary to China. She began serving the Lord close to home, ministering among the Navajo people in Cortez, Colorado. Later, her dedication and perseverance led to her acceptance by the OMF mission board, where she served as a pioneer missionary to Laos.
A gifted writer, Rosemary loved sharing God’s truth through her daily poems. In 1984, she published her first book, As the Rock Flower Blooms, recounting her experiences in Laos, bathing in the river, trekking to remote villages, and learning the challenging Laotian language.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy E. Foote (Marsh) and George A. Foote; her husband, Lindell Watson; her stepson, Terry Watson; and her niece, Sharon Murphy.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Joyce Knowles (and her husband Stan) and Diane Swanson (and her husband Jay), and her devoted stepson, Steve Watson, who cared deeply for her. She is also survived by her loving step-grandchildren, Melissa Watson Casale and Matthew Watson, and many nieces and nephews.
Her sisters were blessed beyond measure to have Rosemary as their sister—an inspiring example of unwavering faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. She attended the Biola School of Missionary Medicine and graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada.
Rosemary will always be remembered for her love of books, her poetic spirit, and her steadfast trust in Jesus, even in times of physical pain.
