Rosie Lee Moon's Obituary
Rosie L. (Conley) Moon, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at University Village Retirement Community, Tulsa, OK. She was born in Morrilton, AR on October 15, 1934. She was the youngest of seven children born to William Ervin and Thenia Lucille (Stewart) Conley.Rosie was a 1953 graduate of Muldrow (OK) High School, where she reigned as the Annual Queen. She first met Jimmie Moon, as students, at Trusty Elementary, in Fort Smith, AR. They became “sweethearts” during their teenage years and got married on July 2, 1954, in Compton, CA, near where Jim was stationed in the US Navy.She wore many, varied hats during her lifetime – wife, mother and grandmother – neighborhood advocate; record-holding sales associate at Sears; multi-year coordinator for the Whitney Bears Cheerleaders; Vice-President of Time Mark Industries – not to mention a poet, a dancer, a skier and a fun-loving, outgoing life of the party. As a caregiver, there was no one better to have on your side. She was always the first to arrive and the last to leave, if there was ever a friend or family member in need.Rosie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim L. Moon; daughters, Karen Moon-Tinker, Barbara Moon and Judi Dittus; sons-in-law, Larry Tinker and Jim Dittus; granddaughters, Natalie Howard and husband, Mike Howard, Jade Dittus, Emily Dittus, Luci Dittus; grandson, Eli Dittus; great-grandsons, Aiden Howard and Noah Howard; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.We must also mention our immense gratitude to the wonderful staff of University Village and Physician’s Choice Hospice. They were so caring and helpful during this unbearable journey.Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2018 – 4 to 6 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 – 3 pm at Floral Haven Chapel – 6500 South 129th East Ave, Broken Arrow, OK ~~~~~ Rosie was born in Morrilton, Arkansas on October 15, 1934, to William Ervin and Thenia Lucille (Stewart) Conley. Rosie was the youngest 7 children, and the last survivor of her immediate family.When Rosie was about 3 years old, Mr. Conley moved his family to the Fort Smith area where Rosie could eventually go to Trusty Elementary School, where her husband-to-be, Jimmie Lee Moon (me) first met her.By the time Rosie was 14 years old, we had become “sweethearts”. That didn’t last very long because Mr. Conley decided to move his family about miles over into Oklahoma. With no transportation, the young romance suffered.Rosie and I never really gave up on each other. By the time both of us had graduated from High school, and, I had been in the Navy for about 1 year, Rosie got on the bus and came to Los Angeles where we both had relatives and also close to where I was stationed. Our Uncles, Aunts, Cousins treated us very good and helped us get married. Rosie and I found an apartment in Ventura where we lived until I was discharged from the Navy.Rosie and I had 3 beautiful daughters over the next 10 years and we stayed married for almost 64 years.I miss her.
