Ross Maitland Taylor's Obituary
Dr. Ross M. Taylor passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014. He was born on April 5, 1945 to Eli and Norah Taylor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Manitoba in 1969 and then married his wife, Linda. They spent time living in Montreal, Thief River Falls, and Winnipeg. They had three children: Andrea, Tanis and David.In 1982, he responded to the Lord’s call to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma to teach at the School of Medicine at Oral Roberts University. After the close of the School of Medicine, he was in private practice for many years before joining the Cancer Treatment Centers of America family as a full time physician. He quoted his favorite movie, The Blues Brothers, when referring to why he did what he did, saying that he was on a mission from God. He was devoted to his patients, caregivers, and fellow staff members and considered it an honor and privilege to care for and minister to those who crossed his path.He and Linda made many trips to the Roca Blanca Mission Base in Oaxaca, Mexico to provide medical care to the mountain villages. He also enjoyed reading, hiking, traveling, and good conversations.He leaves to carry on his legacy: His wife, Linda; Daughters Andrea and Tanis (Jubal); son, David (Kim); grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, and Hannah, and countless other family, friends, and colleagues.The Celebration of his Life will be on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11:00am at St. James United Methodist Church located at 5050 E. 111th St in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assistance in Healthcare, St. James United Methodist Church (designated to the Roca Blanca Medical Clinic) or World Compassion.
