Roy Dean Hershberger's Obituary
Roy Dean Hershberger was born on July 30, 1949 in Harper, Kansas to Ruth and (Simon) Andrew Hershberger and passed to his Heavenly home on August 29, 2016. After graduating Harper High School, Roy earned an Associate in Arts degree from Hesston College, Hesston, Kansas. He then served for two years in a missionary hospital in Zaire, Africa. In 1975 Roy graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He began his work career with Cities Service Gas Company. Although Roy never changed the company he worked for the company he worked for, the company he worked for changed its name many times. Through his 36 year career he worked for Cities Service, Northwest Central Pipeline Corporation, Williams Natural Gas, Williams Gas Pipelines Central, Williams Gas Pipelines SouthCentral, and retired from Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline. Roy was married to Aldena Sue Hershberger (Kliewer) on September 24, 1977. Together they had 2 children, daughter Megan Harris (Hershberger) and husband Jeremiah and son Kendal Hershberger and wife Jennifer He loved his family and spent time playing, teaching, guiding and enjoying them. Roy had a servants heart and would often be seen helping a friend, neighbor or stranger in need. Roy is survived by his wife Aldena Hershberger, daughter Megan Harris and husband Jeremiah of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son Kendal Hershberger and wife Jennifer of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren Katarina and Elijah Harris of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Evelyn and Andrew Hershberger of Olathe, Kansas; brother, Dale Hershberger. Roy is preceded in passing by his parents Ruth and Andrew Hershberger and brother Donald Hershberger.Memorial gifts may be made to South Tulsa Baptist Church (memo Lottie Moon missions), Mennonite Central Committee (contact family for more information) or the Alzheimer Association.Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 6th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 6th, South Tulsa Baptist Church.
