Roy W Minter's Obituary
Roy W. Minter passed away suddenly on March 21, 2010 in the loving arms of his wife, Jo Ann. He was born on December 14, 1942 in O’Donnell, Texas to J. Wilmer and Rebecca Jane (Self) Minter. Growing up he worked from age 12 as a grocery sacker at several stores graduating High School in Hobbs, New Mexico. Roy and Jo Ann Wright married September 20, 1961. Roy and Jo Ann were blessed with a daughter, Suzanne Rae Minter Allen and son Stephen Don Minter and Roy went to work for General Telephone in December 1961 in Hobbs, New Mexico and retired in 1993 after 33 years of service in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to become a “Mr. Mom” to his 4 grandchildren. Roy’s hobbies always consisted of family oriented activities (raising horses, coaching son’s baseball team, boating, camping, trail bike riding). Roy is survived by his wife: Jo Ann Wright Minter of the home; daughter: Suzanne Rae Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son: Stephen Don Minter of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren: Michelle Ann Allen of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Michael Wayne Minter and wife Tasha Minter of Springfield, Missouri; Maranda Dawn Minter of Springfield, Missouri; Matthew Stephen Minter of Springfield, Missouri; great granddaughter: Skylen Rose Taylor of Springfield, Missouri. Other survivors include a brother: J.W. Minter and wife Loretta Minter of Travelers Rest, South Carolina and sister: Joyce Ann Doyle and husband Jerry Doyle of Midland, Texas and numerous other relatives. Family visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 6pm-8pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home and viewing of Roy W. Minter will also be held on Wednesday from 1pm to 9pm and 9am to 9pm on Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012 with Rev. Paul Beck officiating and with the burial at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
