Roy S Thomson's Obituary
Thomson, Roy S. – 88, of Tulsa passed from this life February 10, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Paris, Texas on August 3, 1919 to Roy F. and Bess Crain Thomson. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1942 with a chemical engineering degree. Due to serious injuries suffered in an accident on campus before graduation, he was unable to complete induction into the U.S. Military. His first job with Gates Rubber Co., Denver CO, followed by several years at a manufacturer’s representative. In 1966 he joined Beckman Instruments in the Chicago area retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church. Roy was a devoted family man and a good friend whose sense of humor will long be remembered by those who knew him. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Floral Haven 252-2518Survived By: his son, Robert Thomson of Tulsa; granddaughters: Sarah Donley, Melanie Donley and Amber Donley of Portsmouth, Ohio; grandson: Justin Donley of Portsmouth; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Betty Thomson of Paris, Texas; brother: Faulkner Thomson of Clarksburg, MD.; sister in law: Lois Dresser and husband Bob; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Thomson on April 16, 2006; daughter: Barbara Donley on February 28, 2006.
