Ruby Irene Light's Obituary
On Sunday, February 2, 2020, Ruby Irene Light, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 83.
Ruby, or Irene, as she was known her entire life, was born on August 2, 1936 in Villa Ridge, Illinois to Arthur Glen and Opal Irene (Ross) Bridges.
Ruby Irene Bridges grew up in southern Illinois and graduated from high school in Thebes, Illinois in 1953.
She married Ira Alfred Light, jr (or “Al” as he was most frequently known) on September 12, 1955 at Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
Shortly after their marriage, they settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised two sons, Jim and Gerald, and one daughter, Connie.
Family was always very important to Irene and she and Al loved to travel and visit relatives when they had the chance. Later in life, after retirement, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. Over the past 23 years, they took many driving vacations visiting family from California to Maryland and many places in between. One of their very favorite places to visit and spend time with family and friends was Branson, Missouri.
Irene was preceded in death by her father, Glen, and by her mother, Opal, as well as siblings: Ruth, Tommy and Louise.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alfred, her sons, Jim and Gerald and her daughter, Connie, and her siblings: Ethel, James and Linda.
Irene is also survived by four grandsons and one granddaughter whom she loved very much: Jeffrey, Austin, Aaron, Garrett and Dana, as well as four great-granddaughters: Sidni, Siriniti, Scarlett and Samara.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Floral Haven Chapel at 10:00am.
