Rudiene Faye Grimes' Obituary
Rudiene Faye Grimes was born on December 3, 1930 in Eufaula, Oklahoma and passed on to be with Jesus January 1, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rudiene grew up in Eufaula where she was one of 4 children to Odell and Leona Nelson. As a young single woman, she moved to Tulsa to find work. She soon married, only to be widowed after a short time.Rudiene worked for Moss Seat Covers. After starting a pen pal relationship with a young navy man her aunt introduced her to, she convinced him to come to Jesus and to Oklahoma. After he did both, they were maried. Glen Carl Grimes and Rudiene Faye Nelson were married for 35 years before he passed away of ALS in 2004. Glen had a son, Guy Glen Grimes when he married Rudiene, and she took him in and raised him like her own.She was a very devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend. She was an excellent caregiver and homemaker. She cared for her mother during a long illness. She cared for her late husband, Glen, for 8 years at home during his battle with ALS.Rudiene was welcomed with open arms at every church pot-luck and neighborhood celebration because they couldn’t wait to eat her famous dishes like Taco Soup, Cloud Nine Cookies, Banana Bread, Angel Food Cake, Chicken and Noodles, and Beef Stroganoff. If you got sick, it was for a very good reason: Rudiene was bringing you something delightful to eat. She was a mighty prayer warrior and began every morning with her coffee and Bible reading. Everywhere she went, someone would comment on her beautiful hair and skin. Her hair was the color of pearls and her skin like bone china. She was preceded in death by her parents Leona and Odel, her husband Glen and all her siblings, Roy, Betty, and Ronnie. Survivors include her step-son, Dr. Guy Grimes, of Riverside, California; two grandchildren of Newport Beach, California; her caregiver and niece, Sonya Nelson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; other nieces and great nieces and nephews from Oklahoma, Texas and Michigan.A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 A.M.
