As the smallest grandson I went on a lot of trips with him and he will always make sure I had a smile on my face by the time we got back and that I had suverners for my family and that me and my brother mikey went on the same trips like to Illinois . Sent a gift in memory of Rusty Gene Willhite
So many memories to just describe one, from working together for many years, to traveling through the rocky mountains on fiber jobs, taking our 4×4 trucks off road through the mountains in colorado, to just hanging out fishing and having some beers. I had the pleasure of having Rusty not only step into my life as a father, but he was a friend. I worked with him over the years some, and he also worked for me doing fiber optic inspection jobs across the country. Often We would spend the day doing lawn work, we would start the grill and turn on some KMOD to listen to Sunday night blues, singing and just having a good time with all of the family. A special memory i have is the time we went to the ozarks to do some trout fishing for the weekend. We rented a boat and a storm came up on the river, the boat broke down and it was a wild ride for a moment. We went on to catch 77 trout i believe it was only to find out later the limit was 3 per person. Oops.. He was always the one that had jokes, that would smile and laugh and lighten the mood. Just an all around fun person to be around.He would always sing the a line from the song "Fame, im going to live forever, Im going to learn how to fly" well sir, you are flying free now with the angels. You were a great role model and you took good care of your family. I can't imagine the toughness it took to work as long as you did with the pain from being ill. You will be missed greatly and left us much too young. You've left me with some great memories. You bought me a nice pen/pencil set when I graduated from Vatterott College. I still use them. You were so funny, and I remember you singing the song "Fame, I'm gonna live forevah, I'm gonna learn how to fly!" You always would tell us boys about growing up to be good men and I know you were proud of your children. I also think of you every time I make chili. You told me that when it simmers and you put the spices on top to not stir it until the spices sink into the chili. I always wanted to stir it too early. I'll carry those happy memories with me and try to not be sad. You are in a much better place now, but we will miss you very much down here. I'll miss you dad.
Rusty was full of laughs. He had the ability to share his memories to the point where you felt you were there! To this day, I still laugh thinking about those stories. The love I saw between Rusty and his brothers, was the epitome of brotherhood. Yes, they had their moments of bickering, but when push came to shove, they were brothers and stood by each other. My thoughts and prayers are with the Willhite family in their time of loss. ~Maureen Stegge
i can remember when we were young me and rusty always worked together and one day are little brother jimmy wanted to go to work with us now rusty and i worked in the insulation Business for all are lifes and it was hot that day crazy hot so were working and got ready to take a break and we always had a jug of water well we cant find it for some reason then we notice we cant find little brother so we start looking room by room for him we walk in one room and there he is hanging have way out the window with are empty water jug and rusty says what are you doing we thouight something was wrong with him then he starts crying out its hot out hear its out we laughed so hard at are little brother that day good times!! i have so many found memories of my brother !! rest in peace my brother you will not be forgtton !!!
