Ruth Arlene Carnes' Obituary
Ruth Arlene Carnes was born on May 10, 1942, to Guy and Ada Carnes in Walter, Oklahoma. Ruth grew up in Tulsa as an only child and was doted on by both parents, as well as friends and family. She had such a deep love for both parents and was often heard recounting her fond memories with them.
Ruth learned about her God Jehovah from her mother, Ada. She made her personal dedication to him on November 4, 1961, at 19 years of age. She loved telling others about her God and his promises for the future. She and her mother had a very productive route in their ministry where they would converse about the bible and leave over 100 magazines with interested persons in just one month!
Along with her spiritual health, Ruth's mother was also particular about keeping her healthy and active up until her own death in 2004. Ruth spent the remainder of her years in a nursing home where she was very outgoing and outspoken. She was known for her big smile and her love of people. Ruth especially loved animals- puppies to be exact, as well as children, and sweets! She would never say no to a baby ruth candy bar, her favorite. Despite struggling with Pollio, epilepsy, and learning disabilities, Ruth knew how to treasure the small things in life, an example we would all do well to imitate.
Ruth is survived by her cousins from Tuttle, Oklahoma - the Levy family and the Mayhan families, who will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by her spiritual family in the Yale Avenue congregation as well. Ruth is a precious gem who we can't wait to see again.
