Ruth Elizabeth Kellerstrass' Obituary
Ruth E. (Streid) Kellerstrass, 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma formerly Germantown Hills, Illinois, went home to the Lord on December 17, 2017.She was known as Mom to all who knew and loved her. Her laugh was contagious. She enjoyed spending time outdoors with her garden, flowers and birds. She loved to cook and was known for her many cakes that she baked and decorated. Those in her church became her extended family. She will be missed by all who knew her.Ruth was born on the Streid Family Farm in Metamora IL on September 8, 1925 to Peter Franklin and Ida Anna Streid. She had one older sister Mary Ann (Streid) Brown, one older brother Ben Streid (both deceased) and a surviving sister Bobbie (Streid) Brown of Youngstown, Ohio.She graduated from Metamora High School in 1943 attending Mc Murry College for one year and then completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from the University of Illinois in 1948.She worked at Bergner’s Department Store as a buyer where she met James “Jim Bob” Kellerstrass, a widower with 6 children. They were married on February 11th 1961 after which they had 4 additional children. Jim Bob preceded her in death on June 1, 1990. She is survived by her children: Mary (Joe) Burnett, Margret (Dick) Hilliard, Martha (Ron) Widdows, James (Mona) Kellerstrass, Michael (Georgia Jenks) Kellerstrass, Patrick (Teresa) Kellerstrass, Ruth (William) Howard, John (Licia) Kellerstrass, and Ida Ana (John) Martel. 15 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Joseph Streid, her youngest daughter Roberta Marie and her grandson Wesley Kellerstrass.Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at The Assembly Church.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Food Bank of Northeastern Oklahoma.
