Ruth D. Rasbold's Obituary
Ruth Dettra Rasbold passed away peacefully in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on June 18th, 2011. Ruth is survived by her sister Alice, her son Brian and wife DeAnn, daughter-in-law Kathy, grandchildren Rachel and husband Clint Archer, Andrew, Stephen, Kathryn, Joel, Jared, Josh and fiancé Chrystal Wooten, great-grandchild Carson and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was born February 2nd, 1927, at home in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, of Jacob Stanley Dettra and Irene Louise Martzall. She married William 'Bill' Howard Rasbold, her husband of 58 years, on October 18th, 1952 and they had two sons, Mark and Brian. Mark predeceased Ruth in 1994, and her husband Bill passed away earlier this year on March 7th. Her kindness and warmth will be missed by all who knew her. Ruth grew up in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Collingdale High School in 1945. She worked for Hartford Insurance Company after graduation, and left to become a full time homemaker once Mark was born in 1956. She concentrated on raising Mark, and Brian who arrived in 1958, until she and Bill moved to the Tulsa area in 1971. She then returned to full-time work as an insurance clerk with Metropolitan Life Insurance until her retirement. Ruth's interests included church activities, travel, reading books and writing correspondence. She was always writing to someone remembering significant events in their lives and making them feel very special! However, Ruth's primary interest lay with spending time with her family and friends. Ruth will be remembered with love and a smile, because that is what she brought to everyone around her. Everyone she ever met would get a kind word, and her presence would brighten a room. She loved her family, and always enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. For those who knew her, we can only hope to continue to spread love and joy in the same way that she did. The viewing will be held at Floral Haven on June 22nd from 2PM to 9PM. Ruth's memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 23rd, at 10:30AM at Fellowship Lutheran Church in Tulsa. The service will be presided over by Pastor Alan Fox of Fellowship and Pastor Norm Dake of Ascension Lutheran Church. Ruth and Bill attended Ascension Lutheran Church ever since their arrival in Tulsa in 1971. In remembrance of Ruth, those who wish may make contributions to Ascension Lutheran Church or to the charity of their choice. The family would also like to thank the staff at Baptist Village of Broken Arrow for their kind attention to Ruth over the past few months.
