Ruth Twibell's Obituary
Ruth Marie Shields Twibell, born February 19, 1930 passed away after a short illness and hospitalization on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.Ruth was the oldest daughter of Roscoe and Cleo Shields born in Henryetta, OK. She lived most of her childhood in Seminole, OK where she met and married the love of her life of 58 years, Robert (Bob) Twibell. Ruth lived in Tulsa for most of her adult life raising three children, Hollie, Robbie and Bryan. She spent time living in Detroit, MI; Wichita, KS; Wichita Falls, TX making lifelong friends everywhere she went.Ruth was a devoted mother. She enjoyed sharing her love of cooking and baking with Hollie. She cherished long talks with Robbie and nothing made her happier than daily phone calls from Bryan, and his frequent visits to Tulsa.Ruth was a wonderful grandma and was involved in the upbringing and the lives of her three beautiful grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren. From childhood games and performances, to graduations and weddings, she was always present.Ruth built communities of love and friendship everywhere she went. Ruth looked forward to her book club and lunches with the “single ladies.” She was a devoted Facebook and Instagram follower allowing her to keep up with family and many friends.Ruth was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Tulsa, OK, and found strength and purpose in her deep faith and Christian devotion.She will be dearly missed and always remembered as our “Belle of the Ball.”She is survived by her daughter Hollie Hawkins (John), Bryan Twibell (Chris) and 3 grandchildren Zach Hawkins (Casey), Adam Hawkins (Christina) and Meredith Schmitz (Grant). She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Twibell, daughter Robbie Twibell and best friend and sister Clarilee McQueen.Her celebration memorial service will be at 10:00am on Friday, November 2nd at First Baptist Church, Tulsa, OK. Services will be under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Caring Center or Isaiah 58, In His Service, Inc.
