Sandra Sue Tunnell's Obituary
Sandra Sue Tunnell, 86, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. She was born on November 8, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Russell Woodrow Wilson and Imogene Wilson (Frye).
Sandra married the love of her life, Richard Corbett Tunnell, on May 31, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their marriage was a true testament to love and devotion, lasting 63 beautiful years. Together, they built a life centered around family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.
Sandra was a devoted mother to her two children, Russell Tunnell and Kim Hunt. She dedicated her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom, always putting her children first. She was actively involved in their lives, especially in their swimming activities, never missing a meet or competition. Her presence and encouragement were constants her children could always rely on.
She was a faithful member of Rejoice Baptist Church in Owasso, where her love for faith and family shined brightly. Sandra made sure the children in her life were always in church on Sundays, instilling in them the values she held dear.
Sandra had a vibrant personality and a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping, dining out—especially at her favorite spots, Ricardo’s and Ron’s, and had a well-known sweet tooth when it came to desserts. She found joy in gardening and had a special love for flowers. Over the years, she also adored her small dogs, particularly her Yorkies and Maltese, who were treasured companions. Sandra loved cruising in her convertible during the spring and summer, embracing every sunny day.
She is survived by her son, Russell Tunnell and his wife Susan; her daughter, Kim Hunt and her husband Don; and her cherished grandchildren, Brian Hunt, Chris Hunt, and Wade Tunnell.
Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Corbett Tunnell; her parents; and her sister, Barbara Bell.
Sandra will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strong faith, and her joyful spirit. Her legacy of love and dedication will live on in all who knew and loved her.
