Sandra Wall's Obituary
Sandra was born to C. A. & Ruth (Riles) Barnhart March 28, 1943 in Neodesha, KS. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and family members October 25, 2023.
Sandra attended first through eighth grades at Altoona Elementary & Altoona Rural High School where she graduated with the class of 1961.
She met the love of her life, Franklin Alvis Wall. and they were married Sept. 8, 1961, at First Assembly of God in Independence, KS, Sept. 8,1961 and she moved with him to Tulsa, OK. She said it was a big difference from growing up on a farm in Altoona.
They had three sons, Franklin, Jr., Ronald Dean and Philip A. The two oldest sons drowned in Lake Yahola, Tulsa, summer of 1972. In 1975 they adopted Michael “Mike” Lane Wall at age 10.
They moved to Owasso in 1991, after their house in Bixby was flooded twice in a week.
They also provided home and love for her niece Heather for a few of years. Heather maintained contact, and when informed of Sandra’s imminent homegoing, maintained a vigil by ‘Aunt Sandra’s side at Oxford Glen. She was with Sandra when she went home.
Sandra was very talented in handcrafts. She could make two dresses for her granddaughters in one weekend and they looked very nice. She made crafts. Everything from macaroni angel pins, book angels, jewelry, the near forgotten art of tatting, over Christmas balls (some which even incorporated beads), bookmarks, on towel sets, etc. She even tatted a Barbie Bride doll. She gave lot to family and sold them at Craft Fairs. She won First Place for her tatting at the Tulsa State Fair for many years.
She worked in Children’s church, at New Life Center Assembly for 20 years and was very active in the ‘Buddy Barrel’ (Boys & Girls Missionary Crusade) program that raised money for needs of children of missionaries.
She worked at Bama Pie for 34 years. She not only worked on the line, but she directed tours and applied her crafts in decorating the bulletin boards there. She took part in several of Bama’s several volunteer programs; Frank and Sandra volunteered at the Tulsa State Fair every year as long as they were able, even well after her retirement. They both also volunteered at John 3:16 Mission, once a month as long as health permitted. Sandra just enjoyed being with people.
She was very active in T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for many years, and went to their conventions, sometimes accompanied by her sister, Mary, and her niece Lily. Sandra just enjoyed being with people.
Sandra just enjoyed being with people. She loved to give hugs, and was recognized with a certificate from church for giving the best hugs.
