Sandy Edwards' Obituary
Sandra Kay Edwards, 69, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on December 12, 2025, at 11:48 p.m., surrounded by love.
Sandra was born on June 1, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Samuel Wayne Murphy and Dorene Murphy. She was raised with strong values of faith, service, and perseverance—principles that shaped every aspect of her life.
On March 29, 1991, Sandra married the love of her life, John C. Edwards. Together they built a life rooted in devotion to family, faith, and community.
Sandra was deeply committed to education and the medical field. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and became a Certified Surgical Technologist. Her career spanned more than three decades, marked by leadership, excellence, and mentorship. She served as President of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and as Secretary for Trio Oklahoma.
Her professional career included:
• Surgical Technologist (beginning in 1985)
• Private Scrub, South Tulsa Women’s Clinic (1990–1995)
• Clinical Operations Manager, Surgical Associates (1995–2011)
• Program Manager, Brown Mackie College (2011–2017)
• Manager, CSP/DME Surgical Services, Saint Francis Hospital (2017–2019)
Sandra lived in several places throughout her life, including Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base and Sacramento, California, before ultimately returning home to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Above all else, Sandra loved fiercely. She cherished her family, adored her grandchildren, and found joy in traditions that brought people together. She was a proud supporter of the OU Sooners, the beloved “Director of Mimi Camp,” and President of Christmas Cheer—roles she embraced with enthusiasm and love. Sandra devoted her life to helping others achieve their goals and dreams, whether professionally, personally, or spiritually.
A devoted Christian, Sandra’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Christ was at the center of all she did, and she lived out her faith through service, compassion, and unwavering love for others.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Wayne Murphy and Dorene Murphy; her beloved son, Wesley Samuel; her mother-in-law, Maggie Lee Edwards; and her brothers-in-law, Willie C. Edwards and Tommy Clayborn.
She is survived by her loving husband, John C. Edwards Sr.; her daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Jarod Coon; her son and daughter-in-law, John Edwards Jr. and Rhiannon Edwards; her sister, Meladee Still; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lowrenzo and Marilyn Sims, and Curtis and Linda Edwards; her grandchildren, Miya, Caleb, Devin, Jacoby, Xander, and Izaak; and her great-grandchild, Malikai.
She is also survived by her nephew, Walter and Barbara Still; her great-niece, Lauren Still; her great-nephew, Luke Still; her niece, Sarisa Orange and great nephews Geoff and Sam Orange; her nephews, Leonardo Buckner and Lowrenzo (Ladarius) Sims Jr.; and many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and lives forever changed by her kindness and leadership.
Visitation will be held on December 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will take place on December 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Rose Chapel, with Walter Still officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Edwards, Caleb Edwards, Devin Edwards, Luke Still, Lowrenzo Sims, Jarod Coon, and Greg Staubach.
Honorary Pallbearers are Samuel Orange and Geoff Orange.
Sandra Kay Edwards leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, leadership, and unconditional love. Her life was a testimony to Christ, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
