Sara Elizabeth Gaston's Obituary
It is with deeply heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sara Elizabeth Gaston, 57, of Broken Arrow, OK. Sara departed this earth on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her loving family by her side. Sara touched the lives of many with her incredible spirit and vibrant personality. She will be forever missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Born on October 28, 1966, in Centralia, IL, at St. Mary’s Hospital, she was the cherished daughter of Keith B. Smith and Margaret F. (Muck) Smith. She was a 1985 graduate of Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa.
Sara married Bryan Dean Gaston on April 26, 2003, at Vern Pentecostal Holiness Church in Tulsa. They were best friends and together built a life of love and devotion to family and each other.
Throughout her life, Sara worked in a variety of fields, often in roles that involved connecting with people. Whether in retail, insurance, or medical services, she brought warmth and compassion to every interaction. Her coworkers adored her everywhere she worked. Most notably, Sara loved her time working in emergency pediatrics, where she made a significant impact on the lives of countless children and families.
Family meant everything to Sara. Above all, her greatest joy in life was the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Her selflessness, kind heart, and sweet smile were constants to those who knew her. Her caring soul and natural kindness stood out as prominent traits to everyone she encountered, and her beautiful attitude towards life, always putting others first, will be remembered as one of her defining qualities.
Sara is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret F. Smith, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Aura Mae Gaston, her sister-in-law, Sheryl Dawson-Smith, and her beloved nieces, Patty Jo Triggs and Kayla Dawson.
Sara is survived by her beloved husband of 21 years, Bryan Gaston; her two children, Joshua Rahm and his wife Brittany of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jordan Rahm of Chicago, IL; her father, Keith B. Smith; her brother, Gregory Smith; her sister, Julia Wood, and her husband Paul; and her three grandchildren: Paisley, Kye, and Maverick. Numerous other family members and friends will forever cherish her memory. We welcome you to share your condolences and memories with the family, here on Sara’s tribute wall.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at Floral Haven Funeral Home: 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012.
Anyone wishing to send flowers for the service may do so by calling Floral Designs by Floral Haven at (918) 459-1525. Any independent florists may deliver flowers directly to Floral Haven Funeral Home by 11:00 AM on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in order for them to be set out and properly displayed for Sara's visitation in a timely manner.
A funeral service to honor the life of Sara will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, located at: 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012, with Pastor Mike Hoyt officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM, immediately after conclusion of the chapel service at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Veteran's Field of Honor, Extension II.
A reception will be held once the grave committal concludes from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Floral Haven’s Family Center. Sara's family would like to warmly extend an invitation to anyone wishing to attend the reception in order to continue in fellowship and in the sharing of memories. The Floral Haven Family Center is also located on-site at Floral Haven Funeral Home: 6420 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012.
