Sara Marie Sherrill's Obituary
It is with deeply heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sara Marie (Nowabbi) Sherrill, who departed this world from her residence on December 11, 2024, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Atoka, Oklahoma, on June 11, 1953, Sara was a bold and vibrant presence who touched countless lives with her incredible spirit.
Sara was the beloved daughter of Fannie Homer and Robert Nowabbi, and the sister to six sisters and four brothers. She grew up with a love for family and a passion for cooking, which led her to pursue her education in culinary arts at Okmulgee State Tech. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joe Sherrill. The two were married on April 13, 1974, and together they built a beautiful life, raising their two children, April Sue Sherrill Reyna (born February 1, 1975) and Robert Alan Sherrill (born April 25, 1978).
Sara’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her three treasured granddaughters: Jessica Marie Reyna Osorto, Jasmine Sherrill Reyna, and Jennifer Rose Reyna. She adored them beyond measure and cherished every moment spent with them.
In 2001, Sara followed her calling and became an ordained minister, dedicating her life to serving others and spreading the love of Jesus. Her deep faith and unwavering compassion were evident in every aspect of her life. Whether welcoming guests into her home or serving her church community, Sara’s love for Christ and her family shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Sara is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Sherrill; her loving children, April Sue Sherrill Reynand, Robert Alan Sherrill; her adored granddaughters, Jessica Marie Reyna Osorto, Jasmine Sherrill Reyna, and Jennifer Rose Reyna; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Sara’s bold and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will remain a guiding light for her family and all whose lives she touched. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, welcomed into the arms of her Savior. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
