Sarah Marie Adams Shultz's Obituary
On March 10, 2009, Sarah Marie Allen Adams Shultz entered the loving arms of Our Lord Jesus. Marie was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 16, 1930 to Ernest (Ernie) Eugene Richardson and Edna Ida Allen (King) and was adopted by William E. and Cora E. (Arnold) Allen. Her grandparents were Joe H. and Sarah M. (Miller) Allen. Mom was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She graduated high school in Mansfield, Arkansas. She returned to Tulsa after high school, to marry and start her family. She worked for a short time for Tulsa Co., and owned L&M Tax Service. Marie was active with the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa (IICOT), which her late husband Harry E. Adams and son, Terry E. Adams co-founded. She was a member of Eastern Stars. Marie loved to sew and helped make aprons for the Masonic Indian Degree team. She was also involved with the Akdar Shriners. Marie enjoyed pow-wows, bingo, genealogy, crossword puzzles, being with family and friends, dining out, and traveling. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved the IICOT Christmas dance for the kids. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul R. Allen; and three husbands, David Benear, Harry E. Adams, and Fredrick (Miles) Shultz; and son, Terry E. Adams. She is survived by son, W. Ray Benear, CA; daughters, Netah E. Adams Ladyman, TX, Dolletta L. Adams (Jay) Blalock, OK, Karla M. Adams (Mike) Phillips, WA, and daughter-in-law, Shawna Adams. Six grandchildren, David R.S. Benear, Robert M. (Jolie) Phillips, AK, Lynnetta A. Blalock (Jason) Seward, OK, Margaret M. Blalock (Jeremiah) Jims, OK, Rachael Adams, Adam Adams, OK. Five great-grandchildren, Canaan, Tyler, Takayren, Willie, and Terry Jr.; and many adopted family members. We will always love and miss you Mom. Funeral services will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home on, Friday, March 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marie’s name to the Akdar Shriners Transportation Fund, American Lung Association, American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes, or Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa (IICOT) / Veterans Color Guard.Survived By:
