Sharon Sue Beck's Obituary
Sharon Sue Beck, of Glenpool, Oklahoma, passed away on May 22nd, 2025. She was born August 11th, 1948, in Iola, Kansas, to Donald Eugene Riggs and Arlene June (Diehm) Riggs. Sharon attended schools in Iola, Chanute, and Coffeyville, Kansas, graduating with the Class of 1966 from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville then attended Coffeyville Community Junior College in 1967.
Sharon moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1968 and married Henry A. Filby in 1969. They had two sons, Shayne Henry and Shawn Michael. The marriage ended in 1975. In 1977, Sharon and her sons moved back to Coffeyville where she worked for many years at Clark Graves Insurance Company and later for Newkirk Insurance in Independence, Kansas.
In February 1983, Sharon married Thomas V. Beck. During their nearly 25 years together they lived in Coffeyville, Independence, MO, Omaha, NE, and Spring, TX. After Thomas retired from his railroad position, they relocated to Broken Arrow, OK. Sharon moved to Glenpool in 2019.
Sharon worked for the American Red Cross for ten years in Omaha and The Woodlands Community Service Association for 5 years in Spring. She was active for many years in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Omaha and was also active in the St. Gerald’s Catholic choir. In Broken Arrow, Sharon enjoyed golfing and being active at Indian Springs Country Club. She was also an avid crafter for many years selling her creations under the name Simpli Susi. She also loved the years with her “little sister” while active in Big Brothers Big Sisters. After Thomas passed away, Sharon attended Crossroads Fellowship in Bixby and enjoyed singing with the Praise and Worship team for a season.
Sharon is survived by her son, Shayne Filby (wife Robin) of Tulsa, sister Janett Jones (Bill) of Winfield, KS, brother David Riggs (Jan) of Tulsa, stepson Danny Beck (Annie) of Chicago, as well as three grandsons, four granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, three nieces, and several longtime friends. She was preceded in death by her Husband Thomas, her son Shawn, grandson Maxwell, as well as her parents.
Her final disposition will be cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tulsa Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
