Sharon Cooper's Obituary
Sharon Cooper, 80 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in a Tulsa hospital. She was born January 7, 1939 in Webb City, Missouri to her parents, William Jason Bohnstedt and Geraldine Violet Handley Bohnstedt. She married the love of her life, Howard Cooper on December 28, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma and they have shared over 59 beautiful years together.Sharon retired from Claremore Regional Hospital after thirty-three years as a Respiratory Therapist. An elite runner, Sharon ran over forty marathons, and for a period was ranked as top female masters runner in the state of Oklahoma. She also held records for the 10 kilometer, 15 and 20 kilometer for women in her age division for the state of Oklahoma. Competing in races was her life passion, and she traveled all over the world running. Some of her favorite experiences include the San Francisco Marathon, New York Marathon, Boston Marathon, the Marine Corp Marathon and of course, running the Tulsa Run for two decades.Sharon is survived by her husband, Howard Cooper of the home; three daughters, Tracy Cooper Turner of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Jamie Cooper of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Janet Cooper Dunlop of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Macy, Sheridan, Jennifer, Stefanie, Cory, Melinda, Caitlin, Brian, Cooper, and Jenna; six great-grandchildren, Ricky, Jacy, Kanyon, Boston, Bailey and Trinity; one sister, Beverly Lanham of Webb City, Missouri; and a host of friends and extended family.Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Burial will be in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens following the services.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Sharon’s honor.
