Sharon Mae Eimen's Obituary
Sharon Mae, daughter of Constance (Ray) and father Milfred Smith was born on July 25, 1931, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As an only child, Sharon received an abundance of love from her parents, grandparents, and aunts in her early life in Kankakee, Illinois. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 22, 2023, at 92 years of age.
She graduated high school and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL where she met Ronald Eugene Eimen on a blind date during her freshman year of college. Ron was in the military stationed in England. At the request of her parents, Sharon finished college with a degree in Education. Shortly after graduation, Sharon boarded a flight to England with a wedding dress on her lap to marry the love of her life. Ron and Sharon were married in Huntingdon, England on Flag Day, June 14, 1953.
A son, Ronald Michael was born on March 27, 1954. The family lived and traveled England and Europe until their return home to Illinois. There another son, David Leon was born June 4, 1958.
Shortly after returning stateside, Ron and Sharon made a move to Tulsa, OK where they put down roots and lived for the duration of their lives. Sharon grew up in the Methodist Church as a child and became a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Tulsa. Sharon was a homemaker in charge of their household and raising their sons while Ron traveled throughout the week as a salesman for A.O. Smith. Every weekend was spent with family time, the Model A Ford Club, lake life, attending her sons’ sporting events, and bowling with her league. She also donated her time volunteering for the Special Olympics.
Once her children reached school age, Sharon began her career in education for the Tulsa, OK school system. She took great pride in giving her students the building blocks of their education.
Sharon transferred from education to communications. She began working for Mobile Phone Service of Tulsa. She then made a career move to the first cellular company in Tulsa, United States Cellular. After retiring she continued spending time boating and traveling with her GMC group around the country.
Sharon enjoyed the summers on Grand Lake, where she and her husband spent time on their boat and gathering with all the friends they had met in the lake community. She loved reading, singing, antiquing, and going on any adventure Ron could talk her into doing.
Most importantly, Sharon loved being a wife, mother, and Mimi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved showering her family and friends with love and affection, giving encouragement when needed, and at all times loving unconditionally.
