Sharon Kay Holland's Obituary
Sharon Kay Holland, 71, of Broken Arrow, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. She was born to the late Jack and Dorothy Wilderman, October 15, 1942, in Topeka, KS. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1961. She married Perry Holland in 1964 and they lived in Topeka until relocating to Springfield, MO and then in 1972 moved to Port Hueneme and then later to San Diego, California where Perry served in the US Navy. In 2005, they relocated to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Sharon worked in numerous retail establishments including the Crystal Palace, a collectable specialty store in California, where she was a dealer in rare and fine collectables. As a child growing up in Topeka, she was an active member of Gage Park Baptist Church and was a youth delegate to the UN. As a Navy wife she worked as an ombudsman for military families while their spouses were deployed.After moving to Broken Arrow she became an active member of the Broken Arrow Senior Center where she could be found creating scrap books, decorating for center events and selling cookbooks. She loved interacting with everyone she met and was always quick with a smile and a story about her life to make them laugh and feel at home. Her life motto was, “Don’t worry, be happy!”She is survived by her husband of 50 years, her daughter Molly Van Auken and husband Keith of Broken Arrow, OK, her son Toby Holland and wife Jodi of Warren, PA, her grandchildren Jonathon Holland, Kenten and Bryce Van Auken and Jack and Natalie Holland. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Jennings and husband Robert of Topeka, Kansas, as well as several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Broken Arrow Senior Center.A viewing will be from 9:00am to 2:30pm Saturday July 12 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm at the Floral Haven Family Center.
