Sharon Faith Kanold's Obituary
Sharon Faith Kanold, lovingly known as Sheri to her loved ones, passed away at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the age of 75. She was born on September 4, 1949, in Evanston, Illinois, to Kenneth and Mearice Carlson. Sheri lived a life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering faith. She married the love of her life, Hans Hermann Kanold, on October 13, 1973, at the Philadelphia Church in Chicago, Illinois. Together, they built a life rooted in love, service, and devotion to their family and faith.
A graduate of Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Sheri began her career teaching 4th grade in Evanston, Illinois, and later in Jenks, Oklahoma. After nine years in the classroom, she embraced her most cherished role as a homemaker, where her nurturing spirit continued to shine and she was able to make treasured memories with her children that will forever be held dear.
Sheri was a proud Swedish woman, known for her strong will, elegant presence, and gift of hospitality. Her home was a haven of warmth, especially during birthdays and holidays, where her floral decorations and table displays brought joy to all. She created treasured photo albums for each of her children and grandchildren, and her poetic thank-you cards, written in graceful cursive, touched countless hearts.
Her teaching never ceased—she instilled wisdom, faith, and love in her family daily. A devoted follower of Jesus, Sheri ministered to many through words of encouragement, heartfelt prayers, and her daily journaling during quiet time with the Lord. She and Hans were active members of Christian Chapel, Grace Fellowship Church, and most recently, The Assembly of Broken Arrow.
Sheri’s meticulous nature was evident in her well-organized archives—thousands of documents, handwritten notes, and Kanold family calendars that served as a living history of their lives. Her legacy is one of faith, family, and unwavering love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hans Hermann Kanold. She is survived by her three children: Christina Lanning, Jason Kanold and his wife Teresa, and Sharlene Allen and her husband Aaron. She leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Johnathan Lanning, Brielle Kanold, Jaydon Kanold, Avelyn Kanold, Caleb Kanold, and Mikayla Allen. Sharon is also survived by her dear sisters, Valerie Abrahamsen and her husband Dave, and Lynette Carlson.
A viewing to come and pay respects to Sheri will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 1PM till 5PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Graveside Service and burial will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10AM at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens to lay Sheri to rest with her husband Hans. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 10AM at The Assembly of Broken Arrow with Pastor Devin officiating.
In honor of Sheri’s love for beauty and nature, a Garden of Remembrance will be planted with Rose of Sharon, Gardenia, Peonies, Roses, and Crepe Myrtles. Those wishing to contribute a flower bush or support this living tribute may contact Sharlene Allen.
