Sharon Matlock's Obituary
Sharon Matlock, a beloved mom, bonus mom, MeeMaw, great-grandma, and community servant, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 74. Born in Seymour, Indiana, on November 4, 1950, to Marvin Quire and Patricia Utry, Sharon was the cornerstone of her family and a cherished presence to all who knew her.
A spirited individual, Sharon was known for her unfiltered honesty, sarcasm, and quick wit as much as she was for her generosity, loyalty, and unwavering support of those she loved. When Sharon loved you, she loved you BIG! As the matriarch of her family, she provided strength and guidance, always making her loved ones feel seen and heard. Her devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable, and her legacy lives on through them. Sharon’s warm heart, infectious laugh, and ever-present willingness to help others, made her a true friend.
Sharon had a servant’s heart and was always there for those in need, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply showing up when it mattered most. She touched many lives and leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, loyalty, and service.
In addition to her family, Sharon’s life was enriched by her wide circle of friends, who will remember her for her unshakeable spirit and her dedication to others. She made everyone feel like family and was a constant source of strength and encouragement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Ray, brothers Mark Utry and Mike Quire. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Judy Dunkin and husband Stacy, grandson, Thomas McKinney and wife Kimberlyn, great-grandchildren, Grant and Harper McKinney; with additional grandchildren, Candice Haney, Justin Hurst, Anthony Douglas, Misty O’Brien, Tyler Asher, Caleb Asher, and great-grandchildren Mia Isom, Oliver Haney, Tira Hurst, Syler Hurst, Cadance Coker, Timothy Coker and Azrael O’Brien through the love of her life Ray, sister, Kim Quire, brothers Paul Utry, Jay Quire and Tony Quire, several bonus children and countless friends whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 12:30 PM at Floral Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to John 3:16 Mission in Sharon’s memory.
Sharon’s love for her family and her community will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
