Sharon Lee Yost NorenSharon Lee Yost Noren, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went home to the Lord on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at the age of 82. She was a believer in Jesus Christ, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.Sherry was born in Yankton, SD on April 23, 1935. She spent her early childhood on the farm with her mother’s large family before moving to Aberdeen, SD with her mother. She was a Girl Scout, a cheerleader, a two-sport athlete (softball and basketball), and an honor student. She enjoyed spending her summers on the family farms. She loved singing, and when she entered Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD, she joined the choir. It was while on a tour with that choir that she began dating the love of her life, Alfred Noren. They were married on June 9, 1957, and were married for 57 years until his passing. She was a teacher for many years in Kent, Washington; Kenner, Louisiana; and Florissant, Missouri, where she retired as a special education teacher of pre-schoolers.Sherry was a very private woman, not prone to socialize. But she attended many little league games, and developed special techniques for spraying off catchers in the backyard. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi service sorority, and the American Association of University Women. She sang in the choir of St. Andrew United Methodist Church for more than 30 years. Following Alf’s passing, the Heritage Bible Church Ladies’ Bible study and Sunday services became the centerpieces of her week.Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; and by her father and mother, Light B. Yost and Victoria Greeno Yost. She is survived by her son James Baker-Noren of Louisville Kentucky and his wife Sylvia, and their children, Elizabeth, Jeremiah, Matthew, Melissa and her son Eric Steffan, and Rebecca Stafford and her husband Willis, and their children Brandon and Michaela Vincent, and Kristian and Sabrina Stafford; and her son Robert of Broken Arrow and his wife Win.Memorial Service will be 3:30 PM, Friday, May 12th, Heritage Bible Church, 8205 E. 586 Rd., Catoosa, OK 74015
