Sharron Ann Powell's Obituary
Dr. Sharron Ann Powell, 87, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on February 5, 2026, at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born to Henry (Sylvester) Buchanan Gray and Georgia Luella Smith Gray. Sharron lived a life marked by talent, service, and unwavering faith.
She pursued her passion for healing by first attending Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, California, graduating in 1974. She went on to share her knowledge as an instructor at Los Angeles Chiropractic College in Pasadena, California and Parker Chiropractic College in Irving, Texas. Over the course of her career, she became an accomplished chiropractor, serving in four large clinics and touching countless lives through her work.
A gifted singer, Sharron’s musical abilities were recognized early. At just 17, she received an invitation from Bob Hope to join a USO Tour, an honor that reflected both her talent and her spirited presence.
For 45 years, Sharron faithfully led her home church at Gilgal; Love, Joy and Peace, where she held Sunday services and weekly Bible studies. Her ministry became a cornerstone of her life and a source of comfort, guidance, and inspiration for many.
Sharron is survived by her four children: Janice Powell Conquest of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Carol Shackelford and husband Sam of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Evan Leon Powell, Jr. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and Matthew Powell of Málaga, Spain. She is also survived by her brother, Andrew “Dale” Gray, and wife Gloria of San Jacinto, California; eleven grandchildren—Mark (Carolina), John (Jennifer), David (Hannah), Hannah (Jacob), Haley, Cole, Allie (Eser), Benjamin, Eron, Matthew Jr., and Nicole; nine great grandchildren—Emmett, Everett, Emma, Ella, Ava, Jacob Noah, Lucas Fox, Jonah Wolf, and Ezra; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members who cherished her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings—Pansy, Mike, George, Mary, David, Dorry, Paul, John, Joseph, Daniel, Ruth, and Ollie Mae (Rachel); and one grandson, Sammy Shackelford.
She was one of a kind, nicknames for her children (Miss Muffet, Cotton, Van, McFruchie). Her grands & great grands knew her as Granny and Gigi. No matter what she faced in her lifetime, she remained eternally positive. Her passion was spending time with family and friends. The endless parties she threw at her house are legendary. Laughing, singing, pianos, guitars and loving every minute with everyone around her. Her mind was sharp to the end. She was ready to go home with the Lord. She said she was taking “flight” and wanted her family to release her. Wherever she lived, it was always home to everyone. The Angels are singing in heaven with her and have welcomed her to her final place of peace.
Sharron’s life was one of compassion, dedication, and grace. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren and the many people she healed, taught, encouraged, and loved.
Her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were gathered this past week to honor her.
The family will hold a "Celebration of Life" at 11 AM on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Grace Assembly, 12222 S. 129th E. Ave., Broken Arrow, OK 74011 with a reception to follow.
