Sherry A Johnson's Obituary
On December 2, 1954, a beautiful flower blossomed, Sherry A. Jefferson-Johnson. She was the seventh child of the proud parents; Willie and Catherine Jefferson, who proceeded her in death. She was baptized at an early age at the Osage Avenue Christian Church and was now a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1973 and attended Oklahoma State University, where she studied nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1974. Sherry worked in the nursing field for twenty-nine years. She was with the OU Family Clinic for the last 11 years until she had to retire because of illness. She recently studied the Bible with members of the Church of God In Prophecy, under the direction of Brother Wilbert Gilmore.Sherry was special from the very beginning. She was blessed with characteristics that were a part of her life. Compassion, love, energy, truth, unselfishness, honesty and a keen sense of determination sealed her mark on mankind.Survived By: She leaves to her legacy a loving son, Marsel Laron Jones; one grandson, Marsel C. Jones; five sisters: Ruby J. Reed, Dorothy Watson, Juanita Purify, Prince E. Humphrey and Willie Mae Jefferson, all of Tulsa; one brother: Theophas Mayberry and one bother-in-law: John D. Purify. Also surviving are two aunts: Alice Colbert of Tulsa and Earline Taylor of Okmulgee and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
