Sherryl Matos' Obituary
Sherryl Louise Matos, 65, of Bixby, OK passed from this life on May 28, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Sherryl was born on September 14, 1957 in Chandler, AZ to Vernon R. Twyman Sr and Helen Louise Cunningham.
Sherryl grew up in a military family and enjoyed traveling the world as a child and adult. As a young girl she attended an Assembly of God church in the Philippine Islands where she was an active in their Missionette program. During Missionettes she committed her life to Jesus Christ and graduated as an Honor Star.
Sherryl met the love of her life, Miguel Matos Jr, in a Methodist Church divorce adjustment class. They were married on September 24, 1994 in Tulsa, OK.
Sherryl spent 36 years working at American Airlines. She started at an entry level position and retired as a manager.
In 2017, Sherryl was the recipient of a double lung transplant. Over the past 7 years, Sherryl’s determination to live, despite all medical complications, granted her family and friends many more years and memories. During this time, Sherryl completed Year One at Rhema Bible College.
Sherryl is survived by her husband of 28 years Miguel Matos Jr, daughter Christine Hayes and husband Mark, son Jonathan Matos, son Miguel D. Matos and wife Allison, brother Vernon R. Twyman Jr, brother Eric T. Twyman, granddaughters Abigail Hayes and Indi Matos, grandsons Elon and Crosby Matos, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Sherryl is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Helen, and one brother Rodney Scott Twyman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home from 5-7 PM
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Rhema Bible Church (1025 W Kenosha St, Broken Arrow, OK 74012) at 11:00 AM with Pastor Billy Ray officiating.
Interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens at 12:30 PM
