My mother, Dorothy Berg, was friends with Shigeko in the 70's in Tulsa, OK. We enjoyed their friendship and treasure the time that we had with her. She once gave me her signature in English and Japanese and it has been a treasure for me to have as a momento of her for all of these years. To know her was to have been blessed by her sweet spirit.

Even though we never got to meet Sissy in person,we know what a special lady she was,from the stories we have been told by those of you that became her extended family.To all of you that were her relatives,friends and extended family,we ask that God give each of you peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.Sissy,please know that you were special and are loved by all whose lives you touched.
Sissy,I've always thought of you as my Japanese grandmother. I loved listening to your stories and just talk really, never losing your japanese accent even after all these years.One thing I always looked forward to and I know Ercile (Memaw) did too was having lunch at Ichaban's in tulsa together. Getting to listen to you speak japanese with the lady owner there always interested me.It always struck me as funny when we would come for a visit. You always made sure there was something that you could give us even though we all knew that it definitely was not required course old habits die hard. One time I remember you giving us a frozen pizza since we surprised you and you didn't have anything else on hand, we laughed about it all the way home and still today.You have always been a wonderful friend to my grand mother and she cherished you as much as you cherished her. I'm sorry you couldn't see each other one last time before her passing but was thrilled that you got to say goodbye at her funeral, I'm sure though you've already said your hellos to each other by now and are having Terryaki Chicken and rice together and you are showing her Japan just like you always wanted to.We love you Sissy, you have touched so many people in this life. I can't imagine the number you will possibly touch in the next. See you again someday my Obaasan.
