Shirley Boyd's Obituary
Shirley Boyd, 83 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in a Tulsa hospital. She was born March 16, 1935 in Alabama, a daughter of the late Elmo Traylor and Jewell Hester Traylor.Shirley was a high school graduate and then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree and then became a third grade teacher for many years in Memphis, Tennessee. Shirley was an artist who loved painting. She was a lover of nature and loved to garden, especially her flowers. Shirley enjoyed swimming and especially loved going to the beach. She also loved to travel in her RV and would go off on trips on her own even against her families wishes.Shirley is survived by one daughter, Lynn Bynum of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Hilda Shoemaker and husband Ronald of Chelsea, Alabama; and two granddaughters, Kelly Bynum of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Robyn Gordon and husband Will of Branson, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Boyd in 1993, her parents, Elmo and Jewell Traylor; and one son, Greg Boyd.Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Garden of Remembrance in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 9:00am -12:00pm on Thursday.
