Shirley Kay Haggard's Obituary
Shirley Kay Haggard, age 79, retired meat handler, passed away July 20, 2016. She was born February 10, 1937 on an oil lease north of Avant, Oklahoma to Myrtle and Ernest Chambers. Shirley and her family moved to Avant, Oklahoma when she was three and she attended school there until she was a senior. She loved sports and played basketball all through her school years. She married at age 17 and divorced at age 27 with three children from that marriage. Two sons-Ernest Boyce and Clinton Boyce; one daughter- Belinda Kay (Boyce) Tannehill. She was blessed with a granddaughter, Lara Pohler and a stepdaughter, Carolyn Bull. Shirley worked at Hillcrest Hospital for 3 years and then worked 40 years as a meat cutter/wrapper until retiring in 2002. Shirley married her second husband, Lee Haggard in 1977. They enjoyed a long and loving relationship until Lee passed away in 2006. Shirley lived in the same house north of Collinsville, Oklahoma for 37 years where she enjoyed caring for the house and gardening. Shirley enjoyed watching Fox News all day and when the news wasn’t on, she enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially Elvis. Shirley was a fun loving, beautiful soul who loved country music, dancing, and collecting knick-knacks for her home. Shirley looked forward to going to her heavenly home. Shirley was proceeded in death by her father in 1946 and her mother in 1995. Her husband Lee Haggard, brothers James Chambers, Ernest Chambers, and David Chambers; sons Ernest Boyce and Clinton Boyce, daughter Belinda Kay Tannehill, granddaughter Lara Pohler, and stepdaughter Carolyn Bull. She is survived by her four grandchildren Jayden Boyce Weiser, Rebecca Boyce, Genea Boyce, & Morgan Pohler; son-in-law Mike Tannehill, cousins Doris and Margaret, childhood friend Ann Crume, special friend Dana Cochran, Mike Chambers, Kathy & Mary Chambers, niece Robie Chambers of Houston, Texas; special friends and caregivers Laura Weiser, Annabelle King, Angie Keith, and Charlie Thomas.Graveside service 3:00 PM, Friday, July 22nd, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
