Shirley Ann Looney's Obituary
Shirley Ann Looney passed peacefully from earth to Heaven at 7:17 p.m. February 1, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital where she had been a patient since January 20, 2018 and was surrounded by her devoted spouse, children, grandchildren, niece, nurse Ella and cousins; She was born November 3, 1944 at Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Hobart Charles Trease and Doris Steele Trease; her early grade school years were spent at Drumright, Oklahoma until she and her parents moved to Spencer, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1963 from Star Spencer High School, then went to study Business at Central State College at Edmond, Oklahoma. She went to Bartlesville to visit her cousin Louise and it was there that she met her future husband, David Ray Looney. They were joined in marriage on August 15, 1970 by Rev. Paul Enabnit at the Dewey First Christian Church. Her husband was a teacher at the Ochelata School and they lived on Silver Lake Road the first year of their marriage. They moved to Madill, Oklahoma in 1971 where he taught for seven years. moving then to Ardmore, Oklahoma, the to Wichita Falls, Texas for a year and then back to Ardmore. They came to Tulsa in 1989 and have lived in that area the last 28 years. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and firmly kept her faith throughout her lifetime. She worked at Dillard’s Department Store where she met her dear friend and our pastor’s wife, Verda Bechtold. She loved everyone around her and enjoyed making them laugh. Her niece, Lesa Green Jarratt moved from California five years ago and helped her, having been a nurse, to go through each step of the way through her years of declining health. Shirley enjoyed cooking and making her family feel loved and comfortable. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, by three children, Sarah Anne Tiffany Looney. Minnie Amanda Grace Looney and Samuel Ninian Steele Looney; and nephew, Micah Carl Looney. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Ray Looney, her daughter, Merle Anne Looney Bellot and spouse Todd of Sarasota, Florida; her son, Matthew Hobart Trease Looney and spouse Holly of Ramona, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Trinity Makayla Looney of Broken Arrow, Baylee Michele Broomhall, Henry David Looney, Emily Grace Looney and Elizabeth Rose Looney of Ramona, Oklahoma; daughter-in-love, Mary Katherine Christopher Brissey; her brother-in-law, Danny Charles Looney and spouse Carlene of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and sister-in-law, Imogene Looney King and spouse, Seymour, of Gold Beach, Oregon, her devoted niece, Lesa Green Jarratt of Broken Arrow and nephew, Marty J Green of Bakersfield, California; dear cousins, Tresa Jean Richards Barton, Shirley Kay Richars Jerome, Harold Richard, Louise Naomi McGinnis Maddock and Kenny Wayne McGinnis and their spouses, all of whom Shirley dearly loved to be with and recall all of the good timesthat they had together, and her precious nurse, Ella White Beall who nursed her back to health so she enjoy those last few years of her life and a host of friends who loved her. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 5th, Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 6th, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
