Shirley M Miller's Obituary
a long illness, Shirley M. Miller of Tulsa, OK went to be with the Lord on Wednesday August 22, 2007. Born on October 2, 1932 in Oklahoma City to William and Doris Morris, Shirley graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. She married John (Jack) Miller of Washington, DC in April 1951, later moving to Tulsa, OK. Shirley made it her life-long, personal challenge to convert Jack from a Yankee to an Okie. She raised her family and spent her life in Tulsa. Shirley had an illustrious career as a Realtor, GRI, CRS and CRB that expanded over 37 years in Tulsa. She was the former owner of Cardinal Company Realtors, and a partner of Miller-Garrett Realtors. Her accomplishments were many and awarded with recognition by her fellow Realtors throughout her career. Shirley was elected as President of the Multiple Listing service two times, 1977 and again in 1985. She was elected President of the Metropolitan Tulsa Board of Realtors in 1979, only the second woman in the board’s history to hold such position. Elected President of the Oklahoma Association of Realtors in 1991; inducted into Omega Tau Rho an honorary fraternity of the National Association of Realtors; the first person to be named Realtor of The Year by the Tulsa Board in 1992; Realtor of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of Realtors in 1992; named Region 9 Vice President of the National Association of Realtors for Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas in 1993. She was also a director of the National Association of Realtors from 1989 through 1997. In 2001 she was awarded a life time membership to the Oklahoma Association of Realtors. Shirley was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Some of her happiest times were spent at her Grand Lake home, Crappie fishing, and spending time with her family. Family visitation will be Sunday, August 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Floral Haven in Tulsa. A service in celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday August 27, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Mason Chapel in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church Student Missions, 6767 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.Survived By: She leaves her loving husband of 56 years John A. (Jack) Miller; sister, Doris (Bitsy) Morris of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Christine Cellino and her husband Tony of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Cynthia Reed and her husband Tim of Tulsa, OK; grandson, Bill Pratt and his wife Janna of Modesto, CA; grandson, Michael Pratt and his wife Julia of Norman, OK; grandson, Dr. Christopher Burba and his wife Elizabeth of Tahlequah, OK; granddaughter, Kelli (Reed) Schamber and her husband Jeremy of Joplin, MO; granddaughter, Becca Reed of Tulsa, OK; and great-grandson Caleb Burba of Tahlequah, OK. She was predeceased by: her mother Doris Morris; her father William (Bill) Morris.
