Shirley Reber's Obituary
Shirley Naomi (Lankford) Reber passed peacefully, surrounded by family on August 22, 2019.She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Reber, Sr.; parents Estelle Mae and George William Lankford, Sr.; brothers Thomas George Lankford, George William Lankford, Jr., and Charles Albert Lankford; sisters Estelle Sadie Schools, Elizabeth Margaret Gianotti, Catherine Jean Watkins and Ruth Genevieve Scharf.Shirley is survived by her son David Harold Reber, Jr. and wife Patty, of Enid, Oklahoma; daughter Bonnie Lynn Reber Herd of Glenpool, Oklahoma; and grandson Jess Wesley Herd, Jr., of Tulsa, Oklahoma; as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews.Shirley was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 18, 1935. After graduating from Towson High School in 1954, she married David, and shortly began her career as a bookkeeper in the automotive industry. After retiring as a bookkeeper, Shirley faithfully worked for the Tulsa County Election Board.Shirley was a longtime member of Mounds United Methodist Church. Shirley enjoyed gardening, particularly roses and peonies. She also enjoyed animals, especially her dogs. Of the utmost importance was family, including family dinners and maintaining family traditions. Shirley also enjoyed anything Baltimore, anything blue, and sitting outside in the warmth of the sun, drinking coffee.Shirley was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.Visitation will be held from 5 pm – 8 pm on Monday, August 26 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Services will take place at 10 am on Tuesday, August 27 at the Floral Haven Chapel.
