Shirley Sue Rist's Obituary
Shirley Sue Rist, 82, passed from this life on May 26, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sue was born May 19,1935 to Foy and Georgia Davis in St Louis, Oklahoma. She spent most of her childhood in Stillwater, Oklahoma but relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma late in her school years graduating from Central High School. Sue met the love of her life, Lawrence “Larry” Rist, growing up in Stillwater. They were married August 6, 1954, and had a blissful 61 year marriage. Together they had four children, Rodney Keith, Rhonda Lynn, Roxanna, and Rita Lea. Sue and Larry lived in many states in their early years due to Larry’s military career. The two made Tulsa their home when Larry left the Marine Corp. Sue started her career in the Oil industry but spent most of her working years as the Benefit’s Administrator for McDonnell Douglas. She finished her career in sales with PacifiCare. Sue was known for her love of life. A compassionate and caring person that always had a smile on her face. She had a willingness to help anyone in need and could have a conversation with anyone. A dedicated mother and grandmother Sue made all athletic, recital, and school events she possibly could for each of her four children and her nine grandchildren. She was an avid follower of Christ spending her late years enjoying her church family at First Christian Church of Owasso. Sue will be truly missed by her children, Rodney Rist and wife Kathy of Jenks, Ok, Rhonda Fowler and husband Paul of Claremore, Ok, Roxanna McCrory and husband Brad of Tulsa, Ok, Rita Palmer and husband Robert of Mustang, Ok. Her grandchildren Kari Jo Rhoades and husband Chris, Jared and Garrett Fowler, Jessica, Amanda, and Rachel McCrory, Logan and Morgan Palmer. Two great grandchildren Kayla and Easton Rhoades. She is also survived by sisters, Judy Whiten, Glenda Pitezel and husband Buddy, sister in-law Nell Davis. Sue is preceded in death by her husband Larry, parents Foy and Georgia Davis, brother Loy Davis, and grandson Steven Rist. Visitation Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m with a celebration of life at 3:00p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Ok. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
