Shirley Faye Mitchell Tipton Shirley Faye Mitchell Tipton born May 29, 1935 in Cromwell, Seminole Co. Oklahoma, to Melvin Louis & Imogene Claborn Mitchell. She passed this life in the arms of her Savior in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 30, 2010. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers M L Mitchell, Jr. and Clifton J (Joe) Mitchell. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Brent Tipton and wife Sherry of Oklahoma City, Dr. Brian Tipton and wife Robin of Broken Arrow, and Chris Tipton of Phoenix Arizona, grandsons John Tipton, Michael Tipton, Max Tipton & Chris Martin, sister Avonell Mitchell of Littleton Colorado, nieces Gloria Roling, Sharon Champlin, Jeanne Gentry and nephew Ron Mitchell and many cousins and friends. Shirley retired from Catoosa Public Schools after over 20 years of service. She was a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church since 1967 and active in her Eastwood Baptist Church Sunday School Class. She was proud of her American heritage and ancestors that fought for our country. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars, national Society United States Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Union Veterans, United Daughters of the Confederacy and mountain Meadows Massacre Descendants Association. Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Ok at 10:00 AM on January 3rd, 2011. Burial will be 3:00 PM in Wilburton Ok at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Donations to the Baptist Children's home in lieu of flowers will be appreciated.
