Sidonie Anne Yorke's Obituary
Sidonie Anne Schafer Yorke, 71, of Claremore, OK passed away on April 26th, 2019 in Tulsa, OK. She was born on September 3, 1947 in Winfield, KS to Gilbert and Dorothy Schafer. She attended Wichita area schools and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1965.She graduated form Kansas State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in History Education. She married Jerry Yorke and they lived in Arkansas City, KS for 30 years where she taught in various schools and raised 5 daughters.She moved to Claremore in 1999 and continued her teaching profession there for many years. She enjoyed teaching, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and church friends. She was also very devoted to her Faith Baptist quilting group and participated in many community outreach opportunities.She was proceeded in death by her parents Gilbert and Dorothy Schafer and her step mother Juanita Campbell Schafer. She is survived by 5 daughters and families: Amy and Michael Vu, Sarah Yorke, Emily and Jeff Reid, Carolyn and Chuck Foster, Rachel and Daniel Davis, and 11 grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at Floral Haven Cemetery’s “The Garden at the Last Supper” in Broken Arrow, OK on Monday, May 6th at 10am followed by a celebration of life service at Faith Baptist Church in Claremore, OK at 2pm.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Faith Baptist Church Quilters to be used for their ministry and outreaches in the Northeast Oklahoma area.
