Sondra Fergerson's Obituary
Sondra Jean Fergerson, daughter of the late William Ellis and Leva Ferald Barrett was born March 24, 1940 in Joplin, Missouri. At the age of 81 years, 2 months, 19 days, she departed this life unexpectedly but peacefully June 12, 2021 at 3:30 a.m. with her three children, a son in law and daughter in law at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents
Sondra attended Joplin High School and was united in holy matrimony to William Joseph (Joe) Fergerson August 23, 1957. They were married 63 years, 9 months, and 20 days. Sondra & Joe’s parents were long-time friends, so they knew each other for 79 years. Not long after marrying they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1957 where Joe took on work as an apprentice in the Sheet Metal Local. Sondra’s life in the Tulsa area included volunteer work at Hillcrest Hospital, attending stock car races and horse races, shopping, eating out, embroidery, bowling, coloring, hosting holiday gatherings for the family, collecting dolls and teapots, and enjoying raising three children and taking care of the home. She was baptized for the remission of sins at the Beef Branch Church of Christ near Reddings Mill, Missouri. Though unable to attend in recent years due to illness she was a long-time member of the Angus Acres Church of Christ in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished as she is survived by her caring husband Joe; three children: Sonja Baysinger and husband Denny of Midland, Arkansas; Bill Fergerson and wife Ruth of Coweta, Oklahoma; and Stephen Fergerson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Andrew and Andrea Baysinger, and Jacob, Lacey and Caleb Fergerson; nine great grandchildren; four sisters: Joann Jenkins, Geri Pittenger, Sharon Long and Billie Barnes along with their respective husbands, Ronny, Bob, Jim and Terry; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
The Fergerson Family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for all the acts of kindess, for the loving and compassionate words of solace, the phone calls, text and Facebook messages, and most of all the fervent prayers in their behalf, and especially for Sondra’s dedicated and faithful husband, Joe.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
