Soundra Smith's Obituary
Soundra Dian Smith, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her family and lifelong best friend.
She was born at home on December 4, 1939, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Claud B. Jim and May Alice Smith.
Soundra was known as a woman of many talents, smart, beautiful and a talented alto singer in many school and church choirs. She graduated from Bethany Nazarene College and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Oklahoma City area most of her life. She lived a life of kindness to others, strong faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, and of service. She was a proud member of the United States Air Force Reserve. She served as a nurse during the Vietnam War, offering care and comfort to countless soldiers in their greatest time of need. As a civilian, she was a surgical nurse and regarded as one of the finest in the Oklahoma City area.
Soundra was loved by her many friends and coworkers, as she was known for her kindness, warmth, and beautiful smile. She was a lifelong member of the Nazarene Church and worshipped faithfully, serving God and others in every church she attended.
Soundra is survived by her sister Betty Fain, her lifelong best friend and roommate Loretta Brunetti.
She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Meloni Flickinger and husband Bryan, Penny Cotner and husband Jeff, Terri Hayes, Dianne Ouart and husband Charlie, Tim Fain and wife Erica, and Mike Smith and wife June. She also had many grand and great grand nieces and nephews that she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lindell Smith, her sister Gwendolyn Switzer, and her nephew Jim Fain.
Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 9th, 2025 from 6-7 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Central Church of the Nazarene
Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, OK at 3:00 PM
