Srihari Musapeta's Obituary
Srihari (Hari) Musapeta, 63, passed away on December 9, 2015 at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital of Tulsa with his family by his side. Hari Musapeta was known to many as “Happy Hari,” because of his positive attitude and energy. Over the years, he never missed an opportunity make a new friend or help an old friend. He dedicated his life to spreading cultural awareness and promoting unity in the Tulsa community. His kindness and compassion will truly be missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. He was born June 6, 1952 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh India the son of Venkatamma and Veeraya Musapeta. Hari grew up in India with his ten siblings. One of his biggest dreams was to settle in the United States. This dream became a reality after he graduated from Osmania University with his Bachelor’s degree in Business Commerce. In 1978 he moved to Oklahoma City, OK to pursue his MBA at Oklahoma City University. He graduated in 1980 and joined his brother, Prakash Musapet, at Industrial Electric. In 1986, Hari decided to venture out on his own and establish his battery business, P & R Supply Co, INC. Hari was a true salesman who enjoyed delivering his sales pitch and networking. “Networking is better than not working,” was one of his favorite quotes and he lived every day by those words. In its 29 years of business, P & R Supply Co won Small Business of the Year award in 1992 and 1999 from the Oklahoma Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC). He also won the Minority Small Business Champion of the Year in 2005 from the Tulsa Metro Chamber and in 2006 from the Small Business Administration. As an active member of the Indian and Tulsa community, Hari did it all. He was a board member of the American Red Cross, Ability Resources, OMSDC, and the Hindu Temple of Greater Tulsa. Hari served as the President of the India Association of Greater Tulsa, the Hindu Society of Oklahoma, the Hindu Temple of Greater Tulsa, and the Oklahoma Telugu Sangam. Hari was a life member of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) and the American Telugu Association (ATA). In 1995 he served as the Southwest Regional Vice-President and Joint Treasurer in 1999. He was also a founding member of the Oklahoma Telugu Sangam, the Hindu Temple of Greater Tulsa, and the Indo Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma. Hari married Nakka Asha Rao in 1987 in his hometown in India. He was blessed with three children, Risha, Vinita, and Shiva. Hari and Asha took pride in teaching their kids about Indian culture and serving the community. He loved having his brothers and sister’s families close by to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Family gatherings were always filled with his laughter and exuberant dancing. Hari was preceded in death by his parents Venkatamma and Veeraih Musapeta, brother in-laws Yemberu Godha and Laxmaiah Chola, sister in-laws Vidya Musapeta and Laxmi Musapeta, sister and brother-in law Susheela and Yeshwanth Rao Godha, and nephew Sai Kiran Musapeta. Hari was survived by Asha Musapeta, Risha Musapeta, Vinita Musapeta, Shiva Musapeta, Prakash Musapet and Cecilia Manrique, Rajana and Sitaram Musapeta, Lalitha Vamshee, Sakkubai Chola, Jagadamba Godha, Shakunthala and Yadagiri Rao Layagala, Vijayalaxmi and Ramakrishna Medam, Manjula and Mallesha Musapeta, Krishna Musapeta, and many nieces and nephews. Hari Musapeta’s funeral service will be held on December 12, 2015 at Floral Haven Funeral Home at 12:30 pm.
