Stanley C. Maslanka Jr. ~ 90Stanley C. Maslanka, 90 died February 15, 2016 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma from heart failure. He was Born December 10, 1925 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Stanley C. Maslanka Sr. and his wife Esther Henry Maslanka. He is survived by his wife Jean Marilyn of Broken Arrow, his brother John Robert (Ann) of Tulsa, his children Scott Kazmier (Ilsu) of San Diego, California, Daughter Jean Kelley Jacobi (Bill) of Tulsa, Step Grandchildren Valerie Jacobi of Tulsa, Christopher Jacobi (Jules) and Step Great Grandchild William Jacobi. He married Jean Marilyn Voth of Moundridge, Kansas February 5, 1949 in McPherson, Kansas. He spent his early life and graduated high school in Barnsdall Oklahoma. He graduated from Okmulgee Technical College in 1947 as an electrical technician. He worked for City-Service Pipeline co. From 1958 to his retirement in1987. He was a devoted husband and father who was totally dedicated to protect and support his family. He was so organized that he had purchased cemetery plots for his entire family in 1968. He made sure that there was little for us to do upon his death. He was a deeply religious man who was happy to share his love of Christ. He was fervent practitioner of prayer and had a deep spiritual connection to nature through his love of birds in general and pigeons in particular. He was known to have pigeons around him from childhood through time near his death. In the 1960’s he was passionate about breeding and racing pigeons from distances up to the Mexican Border. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner Football fan to level that could get him in trouble with family members who were avid OSU Cowboy fans. Needless to say there was no religion, politics or football discussed at Christmas gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and promoted his quirky mannerisms that always had the family laughing hysterically. He was proud to be a WWII navy American veteran who fought in the south pacific including the battle of Okinawa. He was a decorated war veteran receiving numerous citations including the “Victory Medal”, “American Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, 1 Star. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW.Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 18th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 19th, Trinity Lutheran Church, Broken Arrow.
