Stephen John Mackie's Obituary
Stephen John Mackie, 75 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at his home. He was born on November 28, 1946 in Salem, Ohio to his parents, Martin John Mackie and Arlene Mary Fourniar Mackie.
Steve was a Vietnam veteran, he served two tours in the Navy.
Steve was an accomplished musician. He specialized in guitar but played several other instruments as well. He studied music at Southern Missouri State University where he received his joint degree in music and mathematics. He gave pro bono lessons to friends and played in several Tulsa jazz ensembles by request—both in groups and as a guitar soloist.
Steve was also an accomplished martial artist. He began his training in Tae Kwon Do in 1976 and received his 6th Dan (sixth degree black belt ) from Grand Master Richard Chun in New York City complete with Kukiwon certifications.
Stephen is survived by his close friend, Natasha Bacon; his sister, Linda Mackie; his niece, Leigh Ann Morgan and her husband, Steve Morgan, and their four daughters and many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
