Stephen Richard Whittaker's Obituary
Stephen Richard Whittaker was born on September 30, 1947 to Richard E. and June Whittaker in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Connie Molitor. He leaves behind his wife Pat Whittaker, his children Rich Whittaker and wife Lisa, Scott Stone and wife Marti, Angela Merideth and husband Andy, and Jana Friedrichsen and husband Sam. He was known as Peepaw or Poppa to his fifteen grandchildren. He cherished his family, and his legacy will continue through generations.
His education began at Skyline High School in Salt Lake City, where he was involved in the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. Steve then served his country in the Air Force Reserves. He continued his education at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, graduating with BA in Economics in 1985.
Steve’s career began in Salt Lake City in the Oil and Gas industry with Northwest Pipeline. His career continued with T-Mobile as the Area Outside Plant Engineering Manager where he retired in 2014.
Steve was a true servant and loved to volunteer his time with Green Country Habitat for Humanity and the BattleCreek Church Bunk Bed Ministry. His favorite pastimes were photography, boating, travel, golf, and working on countless volunteer projects. He loved to serve others by providing Christmas gifts and Thanksgiving dinners to families in need.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Friday, October 18th, 2024 at 10:00 am in the chapel at BattleCreek Church’s Broken Arrow campus. Viewing will be at Floral Haven, 6500 S. 129th E. Ave, Broken Arrow on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
