Carl Steven Crawford January 27, 1943-May 25, 2016Born in Tulsa, OK to Kathleen Verna and Carl D. Crawford. Stepfather Ray H. Tuell married Kathleen in Steve’s early childhood and helped raise him to an outstanding young man.Steve served in the United States Marine Corp.Steve and Marie had Pomeranian dogs. All were very special but especially his dog, Ginger. Currently his dog Petey who really missed him while Steve was in the hospital for several months. He loved his jobs as a welder and at MariCo Supply, Inc. as vice president, an office/ warehouse helper and delivery driver.While Steve was in his hospital bed a few days before he passed he was talking. His daughter, Barbara and wife, Marie said we can’t hear you. Steve said “don’t talk. Be quiet. I’m not talking to you. I’m talking to God”. He said “Jesus, forgive me of all my sins and I have sinned.”Jo Terry is a very special friend to Steve and Marie. She was by our side immediately many times when EMSA was called. She stayed hours to help encourage Steve and always drove Marie to hospital. Jo would tease that she would get mad if Marie ever failed to call her. Jo was more than a best friend to Steve and Marie. She was a sister to them both.David, Steve’s stepson, has helped him anytime he was told. Steve wanted David to help his mom . David helped with 5 gallon water jugs, fixing the siding after a storm, driving Steve to Oklahoma City Dean McGee Eye Institute to maintain the 20% vision remaining in Steve’s eye, killing termites in Steve’s building where he keeps his 2002 truck that he loved to drive but could no longer drive. David washed the truck, changed the oil and many more chores. David also provided lots of conversation.His grandchildren Allison, Blake, Kaden, Shelby and Gracie were a breath of fresh air for Steve. The morning Steve passed it was raining so hard (tears from Heaven). Marie had been home to rest when she was called back to hospital. Just after getting back to his room the sun came out from heaven again.Steve was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.by his wife of 27 years and 3 years of friendship, Tennie “Marie” Crawford, sister, Cecelia “Cindy” Crawford, daughter Barbara Jean Crawford Weaver, husband Chris Weaver and granddaughter Allison Kathleen Weaver of Claremore, OK. Stepson David Wayne Nation, wife Heather, granddaughter Shelby Potter, grandsons David “Blake” Nation and Kaden Zayne Nation, great-granddaughter Graceling Potter of Claremore, OK. Stepson Thomas “Glen” Nation and wife Vonnie of Bixby, OK.He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Verna Tuell, father, Carl D. Crawford and stepfather, Ray H. Tuell. Grandparents Cecil and Niniva Sneed.If you are listening to these wonderful people or reading this and you smoke, Steve would tell you to stop now. He quit smoking 5 or 6 years ago but it took a major toll on him.In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude’s children’s hospital at St. Francis Children’s Hospital, 6161 S. Yale Avenue, Tulsa, OK. 74136Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Floral Haven Visitation Suites, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Celebration of life service will be held, 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Interment will be immediately following the service, at the Floral Haven Memorial gardens.
