Steven Joe Stone's Obituary
Steven Joe Stone, 63, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away on March 8th, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A Church service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Tulsa with Rev. Msgr. Patrick Gaalaas, Pastor, officiating. Private burial will follow at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Steven was born in Delaware, Ohio to Virginia Meade and William Stone on February 8th, 1958. He grew up in Delaware, Ohio, attending St. Mary's Parish School, and graduating from Hayes High School in 1976. He graduated with a Degree and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa, OK. He married Nicole Patricia Bernal on July 8th, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Steven began work in the telecommunications industry at Sprint in Atlanta, GA and worked as a Manager of Operations for LightNet in Atlanta, GA. Steven transferred to Tulsa, OK to work at Wiltel, Vyvex, and MCI WorldCom as a Manager and Director in Operations. He worked as a Quality Assurance Manager at USIS; Combat Support Associates in Kuwait at Camp Arifjan; and Computer Sciences Corporation at Stennis NASA Center in Mississippi and remotely from Tulsa, OK. He served in the Ohio National Guard and was honorably discharged.
Steven enjoyed many activities with his family. Traveling extensively, being a step-father to Isabel since she was 8, being an Assistant Coach for Stephanie in soccer, watching Andre's soccer and football games, watching Terrill's basketball and football games, catering to our precious Aniya, attending TU football games, trying to understand our Spanish speaking family, boating, attending community activities such as the Tulsa Walk, and so much more. His preference was to have his family all together at home for a meal. Steven was loved dearly by all his family and wonderful friends.
Steven is preceded in death by his father, William Stone, his stepfather, Jim Gatton, and his in-laws, Victor Bernal del Río & Patricia Hall Dunton. He is survived by his mother, Virginia, his sister Theresa, and his step-sister Lynda; his wife, Nicole; his children Stephanie and Marco, Isabel and Keennan; and his grandchildren Andre, Terrill and Aniya.
