Sue Ann Grattopp's Obituary
Sue Ann (Carter) Grattopp, 91, of Tulsa, who lived a life of grace and kindness, passed away peacefully in the company of loving family members on August 7, 2015, at Clarehouse, Tulsa. Sue Ann, daughter of the late Lewis S. and Adrianna Carter, was born in Haskell, Oklahoma. Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Albert August Grattopp. Tulsa area survivors include Sue’s sister, Lou Rilla Hughes; a son, Ronald (Ron) Grattopp and daughter, Dianna Sue Buck. Sue’s survivors also include a daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Pursley, who lives in Washington State, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sue Ann graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1944. She was employed briefly as a commercial artist in Tulsa before beginning her teaching career in Bixby in 1945. She taught kindergarten for 20 years at Barnard Elementary School in Tulsa. At age 53, Sue completed a Master’s Degree at TU in psychometry, and became the resource teacher for learning disabled students at Verdigris School, near Claremore. Sue retired in 1985. Sue was passionate about her family, sewing and people. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: National Multiple Sclerosis Society Clarehouse National Cancer Society Funeral Service 12:30pm- Tues, August 11, 2015 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with entombment at the Heritage Mausoleum.
