Sumi Yim Barton's Obituary
Sumi Yim Barton, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, born Saturday, January 23, 1960 in South Korea to her loving parents, Hwi Sang Im & Chi Tok Choe; went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her loving family by her side. Originally from South Korea, Sumi met the love of her life in January 1989 while he was stationed in South Korea with the United States Army. After almost a yearlong courtship they married in November of 1989. Sumi and her beloved husband traveled from South Korea to his next duty station in Washington State and after his tour of service they settled in Oklahoma; making many friends in Edmond, Stillwater before finally settling down in Tulsa and making it there home for the last eighteen years. Sumi was very social able and never met a stranger; she loved holding gatherings in her home where she loved to cook for everyone. Sumi also enjoyed her gardening and making sure her flowers were always beautiful. What she truly was passionate about was her family that she loved so dearly. Fond memories will always be cherished of Sumi as she will be deeply missed by those who had their lives touched by her. Sumi is preceded in death by her loving parents, Hwi Sang Im & Chi Tok Choe; her dearly loved sister, Suk Cha Im and her loving brothers, Hun Ki Im and Chol Ki Im. Sumi is survived by her beloved husband of twenty-six years, Steven Ray Barton; her loving daughter, Monica Annessa Lee & husband Daniel; her two dearly loved sister, Sun Ki Im & husband Han Sin Kim and Haeng Cha Im & husband Song Kun Choe; her two loving brothers, Sok Ki Im & wife Kum Su Pak and Eun Ki Im and numerous other loving family members and friends. A visitation will be held Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 3:00PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in the Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Services have been entrusted to Floral Haven Funeral Home, Floral Shop, Crematory & Memorial Gardens, 6500 S 129th E Avenue; Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012.
