Sue and I were the Academy Central administrators for some time in the 1980’s. She was a thoroughly professional educator who always challenged the students and colleagues.
I am reminded of the words of Martha Ostend:

Sue and I worked together as attorneys at the DOI Field Solicitor’s Office for 3 years, before I moved on to other work. We kept in touch for many years. I enjoyed her keen intelligence, but most of all, her sense of humor, which often caused us to be unable to stop laughing. I can still hear the sound of her laughter. She often spoke of her brother, who preceded her in death, her sister, niece, and nephew. My condolences to all of her friends and family.

Sue joined the P.E.O. group I belong to after her retirement. Each meeting she enriched our fellowship with her intelligence, experiences, and quiet wisdom and grace. My last memory with her was a long lunch at the Bistro. She was at peace with her failing memory and secure in knowing her sister was going to be there for her. Our visit before and after our lunch in her home gifted precious memories and a fuller understanding of what a special person was Sue Ehlen. And, I cannot drive in her neighborhood without knowing I'm on Sue's bike route.

It was a pleasure having met & knowing you as I did through Janet. It warms me to know the two of you were an example of what best friends should be, there for one another. I have plans to set up a lil' something in the back yard that I believe would cause you to smile, from one animal lover to another. I enjoyed reading the obituary, learning much about you that I did not know. May your sister and family and friends and all that knew you be blessed with countless memories & their hearts begin to mend from their loss. You will not be forgotten.

While Sue was a best friend of Janets, I had the pleasure of meeting her & visiting with her these last few years. I was drawn to her because of our love for animals. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the above & discovering more about much we unknowingly had in common. What a beautiful person! May all those who knew her be blessed with endless memories that bring smiles beyond their loss. Sue...we(Janet & I) will do a lil' something over here outdoors in honor of you that I believe would cause you to smile.

I met Sue Ehlen for the first time at Peggy Helmrich Library MANY YEARS ago. We were both there to research stocks using the Valueline Survey. We soon discovered we were both members of the same social sorority,
Alpha Chi Omega; Sue at O.U. and me at K-State. Sue soon became a member of the investment club I had started in Tulsa, Proverbs 31.
In August,2008, we took a trip to Buena Vista, CO, On day we drove down to Salida, CO; while I took care of some business, Sue rented a bicycle and explored the area. When we returned to Tulsa. she bought a new bicycle.
I will miss Sue's little "pop-in" visits; which usually included sharing a pizza together. The pizza cutter she gave me is a useful treasure she gave me.......................Jean Reehling
