I first got to know Sue in 1951 while we were active in the Oak Park First Congregational Church youth fellowship group where I was President. We began a dating relationship early on. Sue was a Freshman at OPRF High School and I was a Senior. I went on to college at Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana. Our long distance relationship continued and we had wonderful early years together. We were married the day after she graduated from High School in 1955. Why the rush? Our intent was to get married anyway and I had received an internship with The Boeing Company in Seattle for that summer and needed to arrive there as soon as possible. Our parents decided that since they would be supporting both of us while in college, it was practical and economical to approve of us getting married before finishing school. I then completed my senior year at Purdue in 1956 while Sue was enrolled as a Freshman. We lived in a small off campus apartment in Lafayette.I was fortunate to have several good job opportunities to start my career and accepted an Engineering position at Honeywell Corporation in Minneapolis. Sue and I lived in an apartment until the following year when we bought our home in Edina, a suburb of Minneapolis, just before David was born. I had done a lot of photography work for the Purdue yearbook and set up a photo darkroom in our basement. I took great pride in having David. I recall taking pictures of him at birth, developing the film that night, printing pictures and taking them to work the next morning to show off to my co-workers and friends.I am deeply sorry that David has lost his Mother. I know that he deeply cared for her and fortunately was able to provide her with guidance and support.
